Summaries and action items
Read, edit, and regenerate the summary Epilude writes after each meeting, and manage action items with owners and due dates.
Press Generate notes on a stopped meeting and Epilude writes the summary and extracts the action items. If you have moved on to another app, a floating card announces "Your summary is ready", and View summary opens the meeting.
What the summary contains
Every summary opens with a short overview, followed by key topics, decisions, and open questions. Epilude classifies the meeting automatically, and further sections appear when the conversation produced them: blockers, commitments, feedback, ideas, or key takeaways. There is no template to pick.
Summary points reference the transcript moments they came from, so you can check any claim against what was actually said. Each summary also carries a small sentiment tag.
Action items
Epilude extracts action items only from what was agreed out loud:
- Owner: the name spoken in the meeting. When no name was said, the item is assigned to your side or theirs.
- Due date: only when a date was spoken. "By Friday" is resolved into a real date using the meeting's date. Epilude never invents a deadline.
- Reference: a pointer back to the transcript moment where the item came up.
Check items off as they get done. To skip extraction entirely, turn off Extract action items in Settings → Notetaker.
Edit the notes
Open a meeting to change the title, the overview, any summary bullet, and the owner or due date of any action item. Changes also update the meeting's Markdown file on disk.
Send a follow-up email
A meeting with a summary or action items can draft its own follow-up. Open the meeting's More menu and choose Copy follow-up email to put the draft on the clipboard, or Open follow-up in Mail to start the message in Mail with the draft filled in.
Regenerate a summary
Use Regenerate summary or Re-extract action items from the meeting's menu to run the notes again, for example when a summary missed the point. If regeneration fails, the previous summary is kept.
Find a meeting later
The search field in the meetings list matches titles, transcripts, summaries, your typed notes, and action items. For renaming, bulk export, and deleting, see Manage your meeting library.
