Quick start
Make your first dictation, record your first meeting and have selected text read aloud on your Mac, then check what your trial includes.
Start with the task you need: writing, meeting notes or listening. Install Epilude and sign in before trying the steps below.
Make your first dictation
Dictation inserts what you say at your cursor. Grant Microphone and Accessibility permissions when asked.
Open a text field
Click into Notes, Mail, your browser or another app where you can type.
Hold your hotkey and speak
Hold Left ⌘ + E, the default dictation hotkey, and say a short sentence. A small indicator shows Epilude is listening.
Release to insert
Release the hotkey. Your text appears at the cursor. Cleanup controls how much Epilude polishes it.
Record your first meeting
Notetaker captures your microphone and the meeting audio playing on your Mac, without a bot in the call. Before recording, obtain any required consent and grant Microphone and Screen Recording permissions. See Getting consent to record.
Start the recording
Press ⌘⇧M, or start from Epilude's menu bar icon. If a Meeting detected card appears, you can click Take notes instead.
Stay in the conversation
The transcript builds while the recording runs. You can add your own notes to the meeting's My notes tab.
Stop and review
Click Stop on the note, or stop from the menu bar. Review the transcript and the summary once processing finishes.

Read your first selection aloud
Narrator reads selected text without opening the main Epilude window. Grant Accessibility permission to read a selection from another app; this task does not need microphone access.
Select some text
Highlight a paragraph in a document, email or web page.
Start Narrator
Press ⌥⌘N. Playback starts and a small player follows the reading.
Choose a voice
Use the player's voice picker to choose a voice. Cloud voices use your cloud voice minutes; the EP-1 voice runs on Apple Silicon without a voice allowance after its download.
Start a narration covers files, web links and other inputs. Control playback explains pausing, moving between sentences and resuming later.
Try Actions next
Select text and use Actions to shorten, rewrite or translate it, then review the result before replacing it. How Actions works explains the panel, voice commands and cloud requirements.
Check your trial
Your free trial includes 1,000 dictated words, 10 meeting notes and 5 cloud voice minutes. Each allowance runs out independently, with no time limit or credit card required. Check usage in Settings → Billing & Usage; see Plans, trial, and billing.
