Opening Epilude with no internet connection could show a trial expired message and block dictation, including in Local Mode where nothing needs to leave your Mac in the first place.

Epilude now carries on when it cannot reach the server, and checks your plan again the next time you are online. Local Mode dictation works offline, the way it always should have.

Your text now lands sooner after you let go of the hotkey. Epilude used to wait a fixed moment at the end of every dictation whether it needed to or not. It now waits only when you might still be speaking, which takes up to three quarters of a second off the end of a typical dictation.

Both Cloud mode and Local Mode feel the difference, and nothing about how you dictate changes.

In Local Mode, a very short or badly heard dictation could come back as a confident sentence you never said. A couple of quick words could turn into a polished line of text that had nothing to do with them.

Epilude now returns a short dictation exactly as you said it, capitalized and punctuated, and never fills in the rest. Longer dictations are cleaned up as before.

Coming back to Epilude after a few days away could sign you out for no clear reason, and a brief connection problem at the moment your session renewed could do the same. Both are fixed.

Epilude now retries a renewal that fails for a temporary reason instead of treating it as a dead login, and only signs you out when your session has genuinely expired. If you leave Epilude running for weeks at a time, it also keeps your session fresh quietly in the background.

Actions turn your voice into an edit command for text in any app. Highlight a sentence, a paragraph, or a whole draft, press the Actions hotkey (⌃⌥E by default), and say what you want — "make this shorter", "fix the grammar", "translate to Spanish", "turn this into bullet points". Epilude rewrites the selection in place and puts your clipboard back the way it was.

Open Actions in the sidebar and click Set up Actions — a short guided setup walks you through your first edit. Actions runs through the Epilude cloud, so you'll need Cloud mode and a signed-in account. See the Actions guide for the full walkthrough.

A transcription or cleanup request that hit a momentary network blip or a busy server used to fail outright, leaving you to redo the dictation. Epilude now retries automatically after a short pause, so a passing hiccup stays invisible instead of costing you a dictation.

This applies to Cloud mode transcription, cleanup, and Text-to-Speech.

Local Mode now runs Epilude Model 4.1, a refinement of Model 4. It's most noticeable on longer dictations, which used to occasionally ramble or repeat themselves — those now stay tight and faithful to what you said. On our internal benchmark it clears more of our quality bar than Model 4 did, in the same 1.5 GB download at the same speed.

If you already use on-device Cleanup on a 16GB+ Mac, a card on Home will let you know the new model is ready. You keep dictating with your current model until you upgrade with one tap.

When you reported a dictation that came out wrong, nothing on screen confirmed it had gone through. Now the dictation's flag icon fills in once you report it, so you can tell at a glance which ones you've already sent us. Hover it to report the same dictation again if something else needs flagging.

The change shows up everywhere your dictations are listed — both the Home dashboard and the All dictations view.

When you spoke numbers inside an ordinary sentence, Cleanup could mistake them for a list and break your text onto bullet points — "listed at nineteen fifty" or "roughly two hundred" might come back as a stray heading with a lone item beneath it.

Epilude now only starts a list when you're genuinely counting through items, and it leaves numbers that are quantities, times, or prices where they belong — in the sentence. Real lists you dictate still format as before.

When a new version of the on-device model shipped, Local Mode used to pause dictation until you downloaded it, even if the model you already had worked fine. Updates now work the way you'd expect: you keep dictating with your current model, a dismissible card on Home lets you know a newer one is available, and you upgrade when it suits you with one tap.

Settings also gained a model switcher: see which model is running, update in the background, and keep or remove older models after switching.

Local Mode now runs Epilude Model 4, the fourth generation of our on-device model. Cleanup quality jumps exactly where it matters: mid-sentence self-corrections resolve correctly, dates and names survive intact, mixed-language sentences stay in the languages you spoke, and casual writing keeps your hedges. On our internal benchmark it makes 56 percent fewer critical meaning errors than Model 3, in the same 1.5 GB download at the same speed. Dictating a plain number like "two million" in Local Mode could occasionally come out with a currency symbol you never spoke, such as "$2 million". Epilude now removes these invented symbols, while amounts you actually dictate as money ("four thousand dollars" becomes "$4,000") keep working exactly as before. Cloud mode was never affected.

The floating widget's hint could mention a keyboard shortcut for a feature that hasn't launched yet. The hint now lists only shortcuts for features available in your app.

We tuned Epilude to run lighter on your Mac. The hotkey setup screen is now smoother, and Epilude keeps a tidier footprint while it runs, so it stays quick and stays out of your way.
